Hydrosols, or herbal water, are pure, natural water that is produced by distilling plants. ''Hydro'' means water and ''sol'' means solution. Hydrosols have a gentle formula and scent, making them an ideal choice for sensitive skin. They are free of harsh chemicals and fragrances that can irritate the skin.
Natural skin care that really works: what is a hydrosol and why should you already have it in your bathroom?
Hydrosol, or floral water, is a natural water obtained by distilling plants that contains both the beneficial micronutrients of the plants and a drop of essential oil. It is used as a face wash, hair spray, and even as an air freshener.
Unlike essential oils, hydrosols are so gentle that they are suitable for even the most sensitive skin – children, teenagers, pregnant women, skin with eczema or acne. If you are looking for skin care that is gentle, natural, will not clog pores, will not irritate sensitive skin and is also suitable for use at home with a child? Then hydrosols come to the rescue! For example, sage, eelgrass, oregano and mugwort are good for external purulent skin inflammations and eczema.
During winter, heating season or sun exposure, skin tends to become dry and irritated. Any of the hydrosols in the Ruoho range soothes, moisturizes and restores skin balance.
I always use hydrosol after makeup because it moisturizes and works wonders for both dry and oily skin!
Plus, it’s so gentle that it’s perfect for young skin! Just a few sprays on a cotton pad to cleanse your face of dirt every night and morning!
Of course, hydrosols can also be used after a sauna – thus moisturizing relaxed skin. I especially recommend it for those with dry skin, because after a sauna it is extra sensitive.
After the sauna, I like to use peppermint herbal water because it has a soothing, analgesic effect. Peppermint hydrosol can also be sprinkled on a pillow, for example, to help you fall asleep more quickly. You can also use it to rinse your mouth if you have a toothache, bad breath or an infection.

How else can you use hydrosol?
For hair – to revive curls or cool the scalp.
As an insect repellent – for example, peppermint hydrosol can help keep insects away from plants. Hydrochloric salts can also be sprayed on the leaves of plants, helping them to grow healthier.
During teething – for example, using peppermint and elk hemp hydrosol on a pillow during teething can help reduce pain.
For relief of ailments – Yarrow is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Spray yarrow hydrosol directly on the throat area and it will help relieve coughs and sore throats as it is absorbed through the skin.
